Bryansburn 2nd XI entertained a strong Dundonald side who got off to a flying start with a couple of goals in the first twenty minutes. Bryansburn pulled one back through Shanks but the visitors restored their lead soon after when their striker beat the offside trap to get his hat trick. They made it four with an easy header in the six- yard box. H-T 1-4.
‘Burn rallied in the 2nd half but were dealt a blow when Dundonald scored again. However, they continued to work hard and were rewarded with a penalty. Unfortunately, Cole put the spot kick over the bar. Bryansburn did pull one back with a close range header from S McAllister. A number of changes were made by both teams, which disrupted the flow of the game, but Dundonald held their lead for a win. F-T 2-5.
The 3rd XI opened their League campaign with a trip to Ravenhill YM at Henry Jones. The game started on a heavy pitch with the wind and rain giving the home side a strong advantage in the first half. Bryansburn spent long spells encamped in their own half due to the elements but defended resolutely. On fifteen minutes Ravenhill opened the scoring with a scrappy goal after a scramble in the box. The home side had other chances to extend their lead but keeper Brady made a couple of good saves while one effort was blasted over the bar from six yards. The Bryansburn defence dealt generally well with everything that came at them with Beckett in particular outstanding as he marshalled the speedy forward who was the main attacker. At the other end ‘Burn had sporadic forays and only carved out a couple of chances one of which was taken after a flowing move. Dempster found Beattie who split the Ravenhill defence with a ball to McGreevy and his cross was finished by Cardwell.
The second half was a reverse of the first with all the pressure now coming from Bryansburn and twice McGreevy beat the keeper only for the ball to miss by inches. However the pitch was deteriorating rapidly and the referee called play to a halt after 63 minutes. League rules state that a result can be allowed to stand after sixty minutes play but it is most likely that the game will be rescheduled.
The 4th XI went down 3-1 against Moat Park Rangers ll with Ben Shivers scoring the Bryansburn goal.
